"Will I Get Bulky?"

A common concern I hear from women who are considering strength training is, “I don’t want to get bulky.” This a myth that’s been fuelled by outdated stereotypes and fitness marketing.
Building significant muscle mass is very intentional and can take years of consistent, heavy lifting, strategic nutrition, and often, specific genetic potential.
Women naturally have lower levels of testosterone than men, making rapid or extreme muscle growth quite difficult.
The benefits now: Strength training makes every single day-to-day activity easier. Lifting weights will make you stronger, more capable, confident, and resilient, both physically and mentally. If your goal is to alter your body composition, strength training is your number one tool to help retain or build muscle mass during a fat loss phase. It improves insulin sensitivity and helps manage other hormones to aid metabolic function and improve energy.
Long term benefits: Think of it as an insurance policy. The deposits (strength training) you make now, will pay out on the long term investment by: protecting joints, improving bone density, keeping tendons strong, and being able to live independently for as long as possible!
So, if you’ve been avoiding the weights area because you’re afraid of becoming “too big,” remember what you’ll actually gain is improvements in your everyday life, mental resilience and you’ll be able to age with independence.
Now that’s a transformation worth chasing!
